Proper Burning and Burn Times To lengthen the life of your candle and virtually eliminate soot, try burning it this way. Place the candle on a heat resistant surface. Trim the wicks to approximately ¼ inch, light it and let it burn until you have melted the wax evenly and about ¼ -- ½ inch deep (smalls will take about 1- 2 hours, and mediums and larges could take at least 2 ½ -- 3 ½ hours). Extinguish the flame and let cool. Once cool, trim the wicks to approximately ¼ inch and remove the trimmings. If smoke occurs, extinguish candle and trim a little more off the wicks and relight (remember never leave a burning candle unattended!). If burned properly, the life expectancy of each candle is as follows: Small 9 oz………. approximately 25 hours (2 wicks) Medium 15 oz……approximately 80 hours (2 wicks) Large 22 oz………approximately 110 hours (2 wicks) |
